North Texas Coalition on Wellness Leadership Team:

Pamela Jones is a MHPS with One World Recovery Network, and she joined the Leadership Team at the NTX Coalition on Wellness because she grew up in an underserved community where there were not a lot of services available unless you went into certain parts of the city in Houston Texas. The passion Pam has now is to make sure there's not any communities that are not aware of the available services that can help enhance their life and wellness.

Brittany Pokorski is a Peer Specialist at Recovery Communities and resides in Parker County. She has found a sense of belonging by joining the North Texas Coalition on Wellness. This coalition provides a safe and inclusive space where Brittany can truly have a voice and help others. It is her passion to ensure that not only her local community but also neighboring communities have access to the resources that are beneficial to their needs and overall well-being.

Jennifer DaSilva RSPS is deeply committed to helping women heal from addiction and emotional trauma. With a personal and professional dedication to recovery, she supports individuals who are seeking to transform their lives, offering guidance to those striving to break free from a place of hopelessness. Jennifer has been in recovery herself since 2013, drawing on her own experiences to relate to and inspire others on their journey.

Justin Miner began his recovery journey after 17 years of addiction, homelessness, and incarceration followed by an additional 10 years of aimless pursuits. Now he is most known for his sincerity and genuineness as he exhibits his heart for all people – especially those who are trapped in the throes of addiction. He began with Homeward Bound as a peer specialist in 2018 and has continued to add on the certifications of Recovery Support Peer Specialist, Mental Health Peer Specialist, and Peer Specialist Supervisor. Justin currently serves as the program coordinator for Homeward Bound’s Medication-Assisted Treatment Program, and not only has he helped many peers who have utilized MAT services in their recovery, but he also now supervises, and trains other peer specialists using all of the knowledge and experience he has gained in this field. As a believer in harm reduction strategies, he conducts Narcan trainings for peers, staff, agencies, and community members.

History

Originally the Dallas ROSC was created to be a coordinated network of community and peer led support services that provides education and fellowship promoting long term recovery from Substance Use and mental health challenges, knowing that the greatest strength is having someone who clearly understands what is necessary to overcome the barriers that people with mental health and substance use challenges face. Whether it is recovering from a crisis, dealing with symptoms, dealing with stigma or developing ways in which a person with a mental health and substance use challenge can regroup. “A ROSC is a coordinated network of community-based services and support that is person-centered and builds on the strengths and resiliencies of individuals, family, and community to achieve abstinence and improve health, wellness, and quality of life for those with or at risk of alcohol and other drug challenges. "SAMHSA"  We continue to help those who are in recovery for mental health and Substance Use challenges develop a recovery life-style and help improve their recovery capital.

Our mission is to cultivate a thriving, inclusive community where individuals can connect, grow, and support one another. We are committed to fostering a sense of belonging, collaboration, and mutual respect, empowering everyone to contribute their unique strengths for the collective well-being of all.

The purpose of the NTX Coalition on Wellness is to create a clear, guiding framework for building and nurturing a community where people feel valued, connected, and supported. It aims to:

  1. Foster inclusivity: Ensure everyone feels welcome and part of the community, regardless of background or differences.
